Dermabrasion has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity since the 1960's, which involves mechanically resurfacing the skin with an abrasive tip driven by a high-speed rotary hand engine. Dermabrasion, sometimes called dermaplaning, is used to make acne scarring and other scars less noticeable. Normal results include a significant improvement in the appearance of the surface of the skin.
